The Lady of The House of Love, Angela Carter.

In The short story titled 'The Lady of The house of Love' by Angela Carter, I  explore the main character, who is that of the Countess;  a vampire and daughter of the famous Nosferatu, otherwise known as Dracula. There is ample focus on the inner conflict in her personality and how she deals with her severe self- loathing by existing in a somnambulant state;  the  two worlds of dreams and reality.

In my interpretation, I chose to focus on  this semi-dream like state of her subconscious .   I imagined that world to physically exist between the opulence of her castle and the deterioration of an insane asylum from bygone days. She is trapped between her castle chambers, which resemble an isolation ward in said asylum ,  She wears her mother's old decaying wedding dress which has elements of a strait- jacket.
